Red Carpet Recap: Met Gala 2018, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination

Happy Tuesday Divas and Gents!

Yesterday was the first Monday in May and that only meant one thing: The Met Gala! Stars, their significant others, fashion designers and industry insiders descended on New York to show up and show out for this year's theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. Some celebs nailed the theme, others could have pushed the envelope a little further, and the rest just seemed to use the night as an excuse to dress up. See who wore what and how below!

The evening's hostess, Rihanna did not disappoint in a pope inspired ensemble by Margiela.

Metropolitan Museum co-chair, Anna Wintour wore Chanel Spring 2018 couture.

Another Met co-chair, Amal Clooney, wore a gown by Richard Quin.

Chadwick Boseman showed the men they can turn heads too in a suit and cape by Versace.

When does Sarah Jessica Parker disappoint? She showed the kids how it's done in head-to-toe Dolce and Gabbana.

First time Met Gala attendee, Cardi B nailed the theme in custom Moschino. She was accompanied by brand's very own Jeremy Scott.

Katy Perry, along with SJP, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna are some of my fave Met Gala goers because they take it there! She did not let me down this year as she arrived in what looks to me 6 foot (?) tall angel wings paired with Versace dress and boots.

Blake Lively had me thinking she was going to be a no-show. She definitely showed up in a dramatic gown by Versace.
Lena del Rey and Jared Leto both wore custom Gucci.

The queen of ruffling the feathers of religious folk, Madonna, arrived in an all black gown by Jean Paul Gaultier.

Nicki Minaj said don't count her out. She showed up in a red and black ombre dress and robe complete with cross studded headdress and nails by Oscar de la Renta.

Rita Ora turned heads in a gown by Prada.

I have no doubt it was easy for Janelle Monae to revert back to her traditional black and white for the evening. She wore a nun inspired ensemble paired with a hat and headdress for drama by Marc Jacobs who was also her date.

Solange is always a crowd pleaser. She wore Iris Van Herpen accompanied with headdress.

Lily Collins wore a Givenchy gown.

Lynda Carter looked regal in Zac Posen.

Diane Kruger looked lovely in Prabal Gurung.

Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) struck a pose in a suit by Gucci.

Tracee Ekkis Ross wire a hot pink gown and Pope inspired robe by Michael Kors.

SZA looked fairy like in her pastel gown by Versace.

Jennifer Lopez served face in a cross embroidered gown by Balmain.

Stella Maxwell wore the theme on her Moschino dress, literally.

Ashley Graham showed up bronzed DOWN in a gown of the same shade by Prabal Gurung.

Wakanda brethren, Daniel Kaluuya, walked the Met Gala carpet in Prada suit.

Kim Kardashian West wore a gold Versace gown with a single cross on her left hip and completed her look with a  waist-length ponytail.

Lena Waithe chose to make a political statement in her rainbow patterned cape.

Kerry Washington twirled in a metallic dress by Ralph Lauren.

Rosie Huntington Whiteley struck a pose in Ralph Lauren.
