Diva's Life, Health & Wellness: Using a Copper Bracelet to Treat Joint Pain

The past two weeks I have been doing a lot of running around. Between working, running, errands, and moving  (more on that later), I began to fee achy. As someone who lives with lupus, I have to be constantly aware of the strain I put on my body to avoid an "episode"  or a "flare-up." These terms are commonly used among those in the lupus community where your condition comes out of remission and is active. Every case is different, but my episodes can range from mild to intense pain, fevers, or worse. When I began to notice some oncoming pain I took some over the counter pain meds before bed, but because I have been medication free for over a year, I wanted to try a more holistic approach to combat my aches and pains. Enter the copper bracelet.

The use of copper in the treatment of autoimmune diseases will yield mixed reviews from the medical community. Many researchers and physicians will tell you that there is no solid proof that copper is beneficial is treating medical conditions. However, centuries of using the metal from ancient Egypt, Rome, and Greece show that there may be some validity to this practice.  So when my medication wore off by the next morning and I still woke up with pains I knew all too well were the onset of a more intense episode, I went to my local holistic shop and picked up a copper bracelet.

I wore the bracelet for two days and my pain was gone. It seemed as if it worked for me. I haven't had any preliminary aches and stiffness since. I will keep you updated. Have you used copper to treat aches and pain associated with autoimmune diseases or rheumatoid arthritis?

***This is another post that got lost on the cutting room floor, the first line of the post can pretty much tell you how it was forgotten. This summer will make two years that I have been medication free while living with lupus. Since then, I have taken a more holistic approach to my overall health. I am not medication free in other areas, but try to solve my other ailments as best as I can with natural remedies.***

Health & Wellness: 3 Quick & Easy Tips to Unwind and Control Your Energy

You guys know it is a lot going on in the world today. It weighs on your emotions and you can find yourself walking around mad, sad, or depressed just by watching or reading the news. This isn't even including your personal life with jobs and loved ones. At some point, we have to shake it all off so it won't destroy us. I'm sharing a few tips on how you can create an atmosphere of calm.

1. Discover Your Method

Whether it is journaling with mellow music, yoga, meditation, long baths, or candles and incense, find what works best to allow you to unwind and control your energy. I often mediate with incense burning and use only the light from candles. Or I will journal to mellow music.

2.  Seclude Yourself

Find an area in or outside your house where there will be no distractions and you feel most comfortable

3. Make it a Habit

Look, the world is cray right now. Just about everyone in power is acting like they were born without sense. Reality can he heavy and tough to deal with. Therefore make a habit of unwinding and centering yourself regularly, because the moment you leave your house, or even while you're home , it can be thrown off.

People introduce crystals and yoni eggs into their mental wellness routine as well to control energy and medidate. I have yet to try these methods, but there are plenty on resources online to guide you.

How do you keep calm and carry on?

Speaking of women, three of the artists mentioned are women. Check out their profiles as you browse the art. They all have their different styles, but are beautiful at the same time.

Diva's Fashion Guide: How to Create a Colorful Capsule Wardrobe in 5 Easy Steps

When most fashion experts talk capsule collections, the staple pieces in your closet, they often mention garments in neutral tones. Well everyone doesn't wear neutrals. I am one of them. I colorblock and pattern mix more often than not, yet manage not to look like a dizzying mess. There is a way to turn colored pieces into your basics, this is how.

1. Jewel Tones Over Neons

Jewel tones, i.e. emeralds, sapphires, and rubies, are bold, yet not bright. They are easily paired with solids and other jewel tones.

2. Carry a Bold Colored Handbag

Many think only black, tan, grey, or beige can be paired with everything. However, when most of your wardrobe is jewel toned, carrying a deep blue, magenta, or mustard handbag can make your look pop!

3. Step Up Your Staples

Yes, a little black dress is a must, but try the same silhouette in magenta, mustard, deep red, or blue

4. Eye Catching Trousers

Anchor your ensembles with colorful trousers. Pair with a neutral top and shoes for a  added punch.

5. Vibrant Coats

Add finishing touches with a statement coat. Choose a color that is complimentary to most of the vibrant colors in your wardrobe.

Brand Favorites: BECCA Cosmetics

1. Radiant Skin Satin Finish Foundation

I love this foundation! This one of two products I bought to try out the brand as I've never purchased anything from Becca before. I've always heard good things about it from YouTube beauty girls and makeup blogs. I was leary of the name because I have oily skin. After setting with powder, it stays all day and I don't look like a grease ball. It is medium to full coverage and a perfect color match. I used the shade Mahogany.

2. Dual Coverage Compact Concealer

This full coverage concealer in split into two sides. One medium coverage, the other full. I used both and loved the results. It covered my hyperpigmentation spots swell. It was a good color match. My shade was Almond.

*Unfortunately, believe that these products may be discontinued.  I bought them in late 2015. I can't find it on BECCA'S site or Sephora or Ulta's. However, I did have luck on EBay. Let me know if you know if they're still available.*

Red Carpet Recap: My Favorite Looks From the 59th Annual Grammy Awards

Someone please tell me how I missed the entire Grammy Awards last night?? Because I don't know! I even missed Bey's ethereal sun goddes-eque performance. *Sigh* Shame on me. That's life for you. I was forced to resort to social media to get red carpet rundowns and performance snippets. Here are my favorite looks from last night's 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

Not red carpet looks, but I couldn't not include the Knowles/Carters. Tina, Beyonce, and Blue look like ancient royalty reincarnate. This looks like a hieroglyphic you'd see on a pyramid.

If "sisterhood" and "uplift" needed a visual definition

Andra Day looked like a modern day flowers child in vintage Christian Dior.

Broadway star and songstress, Cynthia Erivo, served glam and blonde bombshell all at once in a blue velvet Luisa Beccarria gown.

Taraji P. Henson gave us celestial vibes in this Marc Jacob's mini.

Laverne Cox may not have been on set but she showed up to werk in this leather, one shoulder, side cut out, Bryan Hearts midi dress. I see you girl!

Chrissy Teigen flaunted her post baby body in a cut out Roberto Cavalli black gown.

Solange changed into a sheer Iris Van Heron gown for the remainder of the evening.

Lastly, Katherine Graham stood statuesque in a red, black, and cream sequined, one shoulder, asymmetrical gown. Her sleek hair and makeup uplifted this gown.

DC PSA: I Want You To Subscribe!

I've been doing a few housekeeping chores around Diva Chronicles lately.  While I'm still working on a new, fresh, and simplified logo, I also added a subscription box. I'd love to have a pop up that we're all used to, but the way Blogger is set up, that can't happen. Therfore, there is a box to the top right of the page for you to submit your emails to keep up with blog posts,  exclusives, newsletters, and more! I might try a secret give away sometime! You never know unless you subscribe.

Thanks a bunch!
