Beauty Discussion: Illegal Butt Injections Are Costing Women Their Lives and We Need to Pay Attention

Recently  news broke that a 34 year old woman died as a result  of back alley butt injections. This is becoming an increasing  phenomenon among the everyday  woman as they try to keep up with celebrities.  Celebrities  pay a pretty penny for their rear enhancements, and many still end up looking  artificial. The staff over at Necole  Bitchie wrote a great eye opening artical on the subject.  An exerpt is below.

More and more women today are getting their butts injected with God only knows what to keep up with the ever-expanding big booty trend. A decade ago, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez’s famed fannies were top tier tushies as both entertainers were heralded for their curves. Compare them in 2015, and their butts are sitting at the bottom as celebs like Khloe Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, and the Blac Chynas of the world captivate the masses.

The big booty bar has been raised so high now that women are literally dying from basement butt jobs in their quest to keep up with influential celebs like the Kardashians. Just this week another woman died while getting her fifth butt injection.

Diva Hauls + FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation

I've  been eyeing this foundation  quite  some time. Over the past couple of years (yes, I'm  late) it  has been getting  nothing  but rave reviews in the beauty community. So when my birthday rolled around, this is what I asked for.

I was shade matched at my local counter and walked away with 6C2 Rich Mahogany  A8. I went a tad bit darker due to summer beng right around  the corner. I'm  wearing just the foundation in the above photo. Now that I've  had a chance to try it out a but, here my initial thoughts.

Pros:

1. Full Coverage & Lightweight: I was suprised  at how light this foundation  felt as I applied, but still left me applying minimal concealer.

2.  Semi-Matte Finish: I have oily skin so luminous foundations are a no-go for me. However,  I don't  look like my face could crack from my foundation  being so matte.

3. Few touch-ups: I began to get only a sheen after maybe six hours of wear.

4. No "makeup smell": I've noticed  the odor is very subtle. You barely notice it.

Cons:

1. Price: This baby rings in at $37, be sure not to knock the bottle over because  (see #2).

2. There's No Pump: Because  the kind folks at Estee Lauder couldn't  throw a pump on the bottle and make the foundation an even 40. Too late now. I didn't  ask, but I  don't  think they sell them separately. The MAC counter was right next to me, but it was prom Saturday and....no. I  wasn't  doing  that.

I don't  have many cons, so stay tuned for my in depth  review in the future.

Joslyn

Diva's Life: Reflection

Good Morning All,

Today marks the half way point of the year. Time flies doesn't it?  It is a perfect  time to reflect on what I have accomplished  thus far, and what I have to work on in the next half of the year. I have to say the past three months have been emotionally jarring to say the least. Between March and May, I've  dealt with the sudden loss of an uncle, classmate, and two coworkers. It has truly been an emotional  rollercoaster.

There were some happy memories too. I've  gone wine tasting, to a culture festival, my best friend's wedding,  applied to graduate school, and most importantly  cherished time with friends and family. I also welcomed into the world a baby cousin that my family  can't  get enough of. I'm very much so looking forward to family vacation  in July. Fun in the sun, anyone?

I charge you to reflect as well. Just sit back in silence and allow everything  to come to you. You'd  be suprised  at how much you've  grown and accomplished in six months. Think of all the places you've  gone and people you've met. Then prepare mentally, physically,  and emotionally  for the next six months.

XO,

Joslyn
