What I Wore: Afternoon Tea Themed Bridal Shower

If you haven't read the post behind this outfit, catch up here.
When my friend told me her bridal shower would be a tea and hats were mandatory, I hit the ground running with my search. I had an idea of what I wanted to wear in mind, but finding the headpiece that was "just right" started to become a challenge. I ordered something that I thought would look similar to the one in the picture off of Amazon and received a feather clip in my mailbox. I paid fifteen bucks for a feather clip! Seriously? That was more than what it was worth. So my search continued. After searching high and low, from inexpensive to expensive, I found what I was looking for on my second trip to good ole' Burlington Coat Factory. If you are unfamiliar with the store, it is a discount store that caters to the entire family. I often forget to shop there, but I live in the south and that is one store that I know will keep church like head attire in stock at an affordable price. The fascinator is attached to a headband, which is perfect because I wanted to wear my natural hair out.

It was a three event weekend, and I took a page out of  Memsor's (Wendy Williams stylist. I live for the After Show) book and bought the same dress in different colors from Ross.. I didn't end up wearing one of them, but it sure will be put to use before the last day of summer. Get the rest the info below:
Fascinator: Burlington Coat Factory
Dress:  Ross
Necklace: Charming Charlie, old. This one is similar.
Shoes: Old, this pair is similar

Diva's Life: Weekend of Showers Pt. 2

Happy Monday Everyone!

Hope you had wonderful weekends and I am wishing you productive starts to your weeks.  This is Part 2 of the Weekend of Showers post. If you haven't read part one, catch up here. I ended the weekend with a co-ed baby shower on the lake. Check out the photos below.

The shower was Tiffany and Co themed. The entire room was decked out in black, Tiffany blue, and centerpieces were adorned with pearls.

The lake was the perfect spring backdrop!

Yours truly!
The rest of my photos came out blurry. Forgot my good camera at home! Will update when I find clear pictures.

DC Beauty Tip: How I Use Orange Lipstick As a Color Corrector

I know color correctors have been largely popular in the beautu community for a while, but I never took the time to use one until maybe the last month or so. I have hyper pigmentation around my eyes and mouth and have really noticed a difference when I color correct with an orange lipstick before applying concealer. Get more details below.

I have been using NYX's Matte Lipstick in Indie Flick to cancel out my hyper pigmentation.  In the above left photo you can see how it looks blended out and when it is first applied. The photo of the right is my complete makeup look. I only used concealer and powder.  In the past, you could still a bit of hyper pigmentation peeking through even after I applied my concealer. Take a look at the step-by-step process below.

The Latest in Beauty News: Micelles Are Popping Up in Your Makeup Cleansers

I can bet money they've been there all along, but you know: marketing. Anywho....

This is a micelle. A spherical structure that forms in an aqueous solution. Those little green circles you see are water loving (or hydrophillic) heads and the yellow extensions are their water fearing (hydrophobic) tails. Now what does this short chemistry lesson have to do with beauty? Apparently, major beauty companies are making micelles a thing, and every other major product line least one micellar product. Check below for more details.

Diva PSA: New URL!!! Same Great Conent, Easier Name

Good Sunday Afternoon!
I have some great news to share! I just made one of the most pivotal decisions on behalf of this blog: I purchased a domain name! This is something I've wanted to do for a while. I have been domain shopping for the last couple of months. I am quickly learning that everything dealing with blogging will mean you will at least some challenges. Here's mine:

When the time came to purchase a domain name, naturally would be my first choice. I've always joke and say I have expensive taste (partially because I do), and that seems to be true even with something as simple as a domain name. The one I wanted is considered to be  a premium domain (which explains why it is still free) and comes with as premium price tag as well. It costs $1300-$1400 depending on the day. I even checked with multiple domain hosting companies. The price tag was still the same. So after sitting time well spent on my soapbox, I went with .net and decided to  save for the .com. Sometimes you have to take detours to get to your goals.
I am still proud of the accomplishment. Same great content, just an easier name!
What are some of your blogging challenges?
