Artists You Should Know: Veronika Bozeman a.k.a. V.Bozeman

Happy Monday!

I been wanted to do a series on the blog where I feature up and coming artists I discover while scouring the 'net. I've decided there's no better place to start than the present. So I bring to you a new weekly feature entitled Music Monday. The first artist of the feature is Veronika Bozeman. Read more about her below.

I first caught wind of today's featured artist via social media when her single Race Jones was heating up. Then a few weeks later she's belting out her single What is Love on the pilot episode of Fox's Empire. Veronika Bozeman, or V.Bozeman, as she is more commonly called, is an up and coming singing powerhouse from Los Angeles, California. Before making her television debut, she has worked with Babyface, Cee Lo Green, Polow Da Don, Timothy Bloom to name a few. She is now signed to music producer extraordinaire Timbaland's Mosley Music Group under the Epic Records umbrella.  I love all of her music. Below are a few songs and a bio you definitely need to check out. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot from her in the future. She is set to release two albums this year, Opera Noire in February and Music is my Boyfriend in summer of 2015.

The Latest in Fashion News: Target Launches New Plus Size AVA & VIV Line

After taking a lot of heat for their lack of plus size offerings, especially in their designer collaborations, Target has launched AVA & VIV.  It is a collection geared toward the fashionable plus size woman. In addition,  the ad campaign features three popular curvy bloggers, one of which (Chasity Garner, middle) launched a boycott via her blog for Target after being fed up with Target's lack of inclusiveness.

Outfit Inspiration: Chic Working Girl

It's been a while since I posted an Outfit Inspiration.  I got back into my groove by creating a set for the Chic Working girl. I would totally wear this. I don't limit bold colors to spring and summer. Instead of going for bright and neon colors, choose bold jewel tones for the cooler months.  Tone it down with a neutral coat that will pair well with jeans or an office ready ensemble.

Exhibit: Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair Exhibit at Museum of Design Atlanta

Hello All!

So this past weekend I made my way to the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) to catch the last day of the Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair.  The exhibit not only included designer garments worn over the years of the traveling fashion show, but videos and history placed on the walls telling the stories of Johnson Publishing Company.

The Inception
The traveling fashion show was made famous by Eunice Johnson, wife of John Johnson, who took over as fashion director after the passing of Gertude DeKnight. It transformed from a regular feature in Ebony Magazine (named by Eunice) into a charity event. The annual event that brought the who's who out in each city it arrived in was a two hour show. Included in it were ready to wear, evening, swimwear,  and bridal sections.

DC News Break: Revlon CEO Being Sued for Racist Remarks

Revlon's CEO, Lorenzo Delpani, is in hot water as a news broke that the top scientist, Alan Meyers, is suing for racist remarks and unfair treatment he endured. The company spokeswoman is writing him off as a "disgruntled employee" who didn't perform up to company's standards. Meyers, however,  has a  different story. Form your opinion after reading the article.

The CEO of Revlon is a bigoted bully who hates “dirty” Americans, thinks Jews “stick together” and believes he can “smell” black people when they walk into a room, according to a new lawsuit.

The beauty company’s boss, Lorenzo Delpani, made the ugly comments after taking over in 2013, according to a discrimination suit filed by Revlon’s former top scientist, Alan Meyers, who says he was ostracized because of his Jewish heritage.

Delpani, a native of Italy, told Meyers he was “shocked” there weren’t more Jews at the company because the biggest shareholder is Ron Perelman, a prominent Jewish American, according to the suit.

“Jews stick together,” Delpani quipped. He also allegedly added that “thankfully,” Perelman “is not like that anymore.”

Delpani also said that he hates living among Americans, whom he called “small-minded” and “dirty,” and that he can’t wait to get back to a “real” country, according to court papers filed this week.

He later allegedly went on an “anti-American tirade” in which he said the US is getting closer to being like ISIS.

Meyers also claims Delpani made a racist comment after a meeting in South Africa, when he said he “could smell a black person when he entered a room.”

Meyers says Delpani had it out for him for having red-flagged safety issues in the production and manufacturing process.

Meyers claims he was concerned that several labs were not equipped to adequately test raw materials to satisfy Revlon’s safety standards.

Meyers, 56, who joined Revlon in 2010, was fired last month after he complained about the issues and his treatment, the lawsuit says.

Revlon spokeswoman Kiki Rees on Wednesday said Meyers was a disgruntled employee who did not perform up to company standards.

“Mr. Meyers repeatedly demonstrated critical lapses in judgment and failed to perform at the high standard we demand of our employees,” Rees said.

In the suit, Meyers claims Delpani’s tirades and tormenting eventually became outright bullying.

Meyers described one incident in October, when he allegedly was forced by Delpani to act as a human easel during a high-level meeting.

Meyers says he was instructed to hold a whiteboard, which covered his entire upper torso and head, for approximately 30 minutes.

He saw this as a demeaning gesture, he says, especially since he was supposed to be part of the leadership team.

Stress from the ordeal forced Meyers into the hospital with chest pains, the lawsuit says. He said he was fired on Dec. 10.

In his suit, he is demanding unspecified punitive and compensatory damages.

Attorneys for Meyers were unavailable Wednesday for comment.
