Diva's Life: What I've Been Up To Behind the Scenes

Hello All!

Just thought I'd fill you in on some projects I've been working on. Not only do I run this blog, I've been hard at work on some business ventures as well. As long as I can remember, I've told people that I want to become a doctor, then retire to open up my own boutique. Well the doctor thing never happened, but I still wanted my own business. I married my love of makeup and entrepreneurship and launched Renaissance Cosmetics. With the slogan "A New Era in Beauty", the line will focus on individuals who are driven and always on the go such as myself, and need their products to be versatile and of high quality. I'm currently working on the website and making sourcing quality raw materials. I can't wait to launch it to the public.

Then, as if I don't already have enough on my plate, I decided to curate an online boutique that will coincide with Diva Chronicles, called Diva's Marketplace., where I can express my love of fashion, home décor, and much more! Think of it as a little online gift shop for men and women that sells one of a kind items. Some will be new, others will be vintage finds, and some will be hand crafted by myself or other designers. The site is under construction as well, but you can stay tuned to this space for updates.

I can't wait to share my passion with you guys!

The Latest in Tech: Bandsintown App

Hello Everyone!

While in the middle of a discussion of music concerts with some of my coworkers, I was introduced to the Bandsintown app. It's and app that takes your music library to curate a listing of concerts, both national and local, based on your personal taste. It's like a dictionary of musicians and their appearances. Get more info below.

Style 180: The Birkenstock is Back!

Image: 960811 Boston

Yes, there is the original Birkenstock that hit the scene hard back in 2002. How do I know this? I was in my freshman year of high school and everyone was wearing them. They were some of the most visually unappealing, yet comfortable shoes. Now the brand has revamped their classic styles and the other big name brands have followed suit. Check out the latest in comfort below.

The Latest in Beauty News: sur.face Pro by Beauty Blender

Known for their sponge that has gained popularity mainly via the internet, Beauty Blender is starting to add more products to their inventory.  They have recently introduced the sur.face pro palette targeted towards makeup artists and enthusiats alike.

Because of it's transparency, it is easy to color match, and the storage there's a hole to sit your Beauty Blender while you're working. An added bonus are storage wells at the bottom that allows you to save your custom mixes. Just like the sponge, the sur.face pro doesn't come cheap. The acryllic palette will set you back $40. Diva's Life: She Did That! Tamar Braxton Concert

Hello All!

I ended my work day yesterday jamming at the Tamar Braxton concert. She made a tour stop in Atlanta and I made sure I was in the building.  She belted her heart out to a sold out crowd at a venue called The Tabernacle located in downtown Atlanta. Check out some pics I snapped from her opening set below.

She opened the show in a white hooded body suit and a pair of $660 Gucci Ursula
ankle strap pumps in white.

Beauty Discussion: Two Products That Live Up to Their Labels

On my recent trip to the store to pick up more lotion and face cream (these are new ones I'm trying) idea to write a  post about product labels.  Often what is advertised on the front label leaves a lot to be desired on the back label. Here are two products in which the ingredient lists match the front labels.

Here we have a Jergens lotion that advertises she butter and a vitamin E cream, that claims to include vitamin E. With the wave of popularity for natural ingredients in products,  it seems as though every company is advertising a natural butter and and or oil in their products. Many do it because of marketing, few do it so it can really benefit the customer. With my background in the personal care product industry,  I have seen both sides. I can't name names, but let's just say everyone needs to know how to properly read ingredient lists. So here I am to help!

Diva's Guide to Blogging: When Big Companies Recognize You

What I quickly learned about blogging is you can't let the blog do all the work. You have to put the word out that you have just uploaded a post. Big blogs that I follow still do this. When a post goes up, it hits what I call the Big 5: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Tumblr. Diva Chronicles is slowly but surely garnering some recognition.  So far, I've been mentioned or retweeted by brands like Shea Moisture, Iman Cosmetics, and Revlon!

The Latest in Fashion News: Kontrol Magazine Presents Fashion in the City of Atlanta

When I read on Kontrol Mag's site that they were presenting a fashion week based in Atlanta, I was excited. The purpose is to highlight Atlanta as a fashion city; just like New York City and L.A are known for fashion.  I not so patiently waited for a more detailed schedule to be released. Check out the list of events below. Hope you can make it! My plan is to make it to at least one evening event (because this girl still has a day job).

This is what the mag had to say about it's premier event:

As the premier event for Atlanta, Fashion In The City of Atlanta will be deemed the Official Atlanta Fashion Weekend. FITCA is set to be the most influential fashion event of the season. An elegant opening reception for VIPs and Media kicks off the three-day event of runway shows, product launches, red carpet arrivals, gifting suites, performances, and designer showcases.
