Music mogul and trend setter,  Pharrell Williams covers Billboard in a charcaol version of his iconic Vivienne Westwood hat that caused such a stir. I like this photo, it is like giving the finger to his skeptics.

Beauty Discussion: I Went to Iman, and May Never Go Back

I purchased the Iman Cream to Powder Foundation in Earth 6 sometime last year, and was blown away. Her products land at the higher end of the price totem pole of drugstore foundations, but with the results I received,  I don't mind. I can honestly say that until this point, no other drugstore  makeup came as close to my skin tone as Iman's compact makeup. A close second is Revlon Colorstay in Mahogany.  When I say this is a perfect match, it's a perfect match. It's so close that when I first bought it, I had to apply to one side if my face at a time to observe the coverage. It's not too red,  yellow, or orange. There's no oxidation going on, and touch ups are rare.  Check out my makeup look using the foundation below.

Currently Wearing {Nails}: Golden-1's Second Chance

Sally Hansen Hand as Nails Xtreme Wear  in Golden-1

Okay, how gorge is this polish? This is not a new shade, and I've had this polish for a few months. I wore and once, didn't love it, and it's been hiding in the back of my nail polish collection every since. However, I was due for a polish change and tried to give it another go, and fell in love with the metallic finish. It only took two coats and dried pretty fast.  Don't forget to give your beauty products a second chance before you write them off! :)

The brand was the official hair and makeup sponsor for Korto Momolu's (remember her fron Project Runway) F/W '14 runway show during New York fashion week. Diva's Life: Weekend in the Smokys

This past weekend, my friends and I made our way to Gatlinburg, Tennessee for a weekend of cabin living and fun. This was our first time in the cabins, and the drive up the mountain was truly an experience. Never before have I been so anxious. I was on the passenger side so I was able to see the sleepiness of the cliffs, the river below,  and the fact that there were no guard rails. What made it worse was in top if all that, there were no street lights. As the saying goes: we definitely weren't in Kansas anymore.  The cabin itself, however, was beautiful! Check below for more pictures.

Fashion & Black History: Fashion Fair Cosmetics

Today's featured brand is one that has been a staple in the black community for over four decades. Fashion Fair Cosmetics was born out of the need of color appropriate makeup for women of color. While observing models at the traveling fashion show, Ebony Fashion Fair, mix several foundations formulated for Caucasian women to get a color as close to their skin as possible, John H. Johnson and his wife decided to do something about it. Thus was the beginning of a global brand for women of color

Fashion & Black History: Ophella DeVore-Mitchell

Owner of one of the first African American modeling agencies, Ophella DeVore-Mitchell was a native of Edgefield, South Carolina. She relocated to New York City in the 1930s with her family. It was there she would enter into the Vogue School of Modeling at the age of seventeen. Ophella would model for seven years before deciding to open up her own modeling agency to aid African American in overcoming society's stereotypes and succeed in the fashion world.
