Diva Rant: Big Cosmetic Companies Are Missing Out...

As you can probably tell my now, I'm an avid makeup lover (FYI the picture above is not of me, it is the lovel Folake of The Style Pantry), so I love to try out new produts. Well one of the new products I have been wanting to try out is BB Cream. Unfortunately, I cannot try said BB cream because it only comes in two, maybe three shades. Now I know where the product originated from and why it would come in three shades. However, if another company, for example, American cosmetic companies, such as MAC,  Bobbi Brown, Smashbox, Garnier, then why would they not want to capitalize on their profits if they expanded their shade range. When a company adopts a product, it has the license to make it more unique than the previous popular product. One way these companies could have done that, is to broaden the shade range.

This is not a new phenomenon in the cosmetics industry. Women of color, especially dark skinned women of color have always had a love-hate relationship with the make-up aisle. There is always a case of "Will I find something for me this time?" I must say I was disappointed this time around. We clearly live in an age where it is very obvious that women of color love make-up, so why not accomodate them. I hate to say it, but it will take a company geared toward women of color or an unknown cosmetic company to come along and fill the gap and the before mentioned companies will only then jump on the "they wear make-up too!" bandwagon.

Sigh, I digress.
